EU long-term resident status

EU long-term resident permit in Poland

Before preparing the MOS application, we analyse the five-year residence history, absences, income, insurance and evidence of Polish language knowledge.

Required residence

Generally five years

Residence right

Granted indefinitely

Residence card

Valid for five years

Fees

PLN 640 + PLN 100 for the card

What does the status provide?

Indefinite Polish residence under EU law

The decision grants an indefinite right of residence in Poland. It is not EU citizenship or an automatic right to settle in every Member State; a move to another country is governed by that country’s rules.

Cumulative conditions

Five elapsed years alone are not enough

Under the ordinary route, all core conditions must be met when the application is filed.

01

Five-year residence

Legal and continuous residence in Poland immediately before filing.

02

Stable income

A regular source of income at the required level for the assessed period.

03

Health insurance

Health insurance or evidence that treatment costs are covered.

04

Polish language

Knowledge of Polish proven only by an accepted document.

05

Legal title to premises

Evidence of the right to occupy the accommodation where required.

Residence calculation

Which periods and absences matter?

Ordinary absences

As a rule, one absence should not exceed six months and all absences should not exceed ten months during the assessed five years.

Studies and training

Certain periods connected with studies or vocational training are counted only by half.

Blue Card

Qualifying Blue Card holders are subject to separate mobility rules and longer absence limits.

Exceptions and justified absences require an individual assessment. Missing time should not be assumed to mature while waiting for the decision; the required period should be complete before filing.

Process

From residence timeline to decision

  1. 1

    Timeline

We reconstruct every residence basis and border crossing.

  2. 2

    Period classification

We identify periods counted fully, partly or excluded.

  3. 3

    Additional conditions

We verify income, insurance, accommodation and language evidence.

  4. 4

    MOS application

The applicant personally signs and submits the form online.

  5. 5

    Biometrics and proceedings

We handle fingerprints, deficiencies and authority correspondence.

Evidence

The case depends on the complete history, not one certificate

Residence-history documents

  • Passport and previous travel documents
  • Decisions and residence cards from the assessed period
  • A schedule of departures from and returns to Poland
  • Evidence explaining qualifying absences

Other evidence

  • Income evidence for the required periods
  • Health insurance
  • Legal title to accommodation
  • An accepted Polish-language document
  • Proof of the PLN 640 fee and PLN 100 card fee
